Successful Flag-Selling Day

Dear 4F students,

Wow, I'm really proud of you. You all did a great job!

It was raining heavily yesterday morning but all of you still tried your best to help the people in need. Although sometimes you were turned down or ignored, you never gave up. You gathered all your courage and kept on asking the passers-by to buy flags from you. How kind and persistent you are!

Remember, we should never give up! I'll always support you!

Love,

Ms Lee

SBA Log Book

Dear students,

Please refer to the guidelines below before you start your log book.

Guidelines to Print Fiction Log Book

How to do it?

When you have found a part of the book that you could write about,

1. Stop.

2. Write down the entry number, page number and date.

3. Explain briefly what has just happened in the book.

4. Write down your reactions, using some of the suggestions below.

5. The first entry should include background information like setting, main characters, etc..

6. The last entry should be a brief review of the whole book.

How often and how much to write?

1. Make at least 5 entries (I prefer you to write 8-10) for each book.

2. Each entry should be at least half a page long (better more than that) with the last entry about a page long.

3. Write on every line.

4. Follow the format given in the example.

What can I write?

Try some of these:

1. Do you like/ dislike any of the characters you are reading about? Why?

2. Speculate what you think may happen based on what you’ve read so far.

3. Have you ever experienced something similar to what happens in the story? If so, explain.

4. Do you know anyone who is/are like the character(s) in the story? Who? In what way?

5. Copy out a phrase, a sentence or a short paragraph that you find important. Explain why.

6. Name the part(s) of the book that you particularly like/dislike. Explain why.

7. Do you like the ending? Why or why not?

8. Have you changed your opinion about certain things/ values after reading the book?

Example

Name of book : The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Team Spirit

Dear students,

These days, I have been thinking of sending you some gifts that you all like. But… I want to make sure that the things I send you are something you really need, treasure and appreciate. After all, I really want to make sure that my gifts are something special for you. Hummmm, after some thoughts, I finally come up with some nice gifts that you will definitely enjoy without having to spend a huge amount of money. Do you know what they are?

Right, they are…. Love, Care, Humourous, Excitement, Tolerance, Support…..

Remember, as one of you suggested in the lesson, “we need to support others, care about others, … These are all qualities of TEAM SPIRIT!!!”

Love,

Ms LEE
